Herbal Menopause Symptoms Relief
Menopause is the period of time in a woman's life when she stops ovulating and having a period. This process often takes several years for many women and usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 60. There are some women who start menopause at much younger ages, however, and the symptoms of menopause are different for each.
A common symptom of menopause is hot flashes. Some women will wake up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat from these. Other menopause symptoms include a weak bladder, weight gain, irritability, dry skin and decreased vaginal lubrication.
Most of the symptoms caused by menopause are side effects of the hormonal changes taking place within the woman's body. As her ovaries stop producing eggs each month, less estrogen is produced within her body. This decrease in estrogen is the cause of the most common menopause symptoms.
There are several herbal remedies that can be taken for menopause symptoms relief which can help boost and balance a woman's hormone levels.
One of the better known natural remedies for menopause is Black Cohosh. This herb is a natural source of estrogen, and is used to help correct many female related problems. It's considered the most useful for reducing hot flashes during menopause.
If you take too much Black Cohosh though, it can give you a headache. The headache will go away in a few hours, but the next time you take this herb you should reduce the amounts your taking.
Licorice Root is another herb which is a natural source of estrogen, and thus can be helpful for women during menopause. Note: this herb is also used for hypoglycemics or people who have low blood sugar problems, so if you are a diabetic and you take Licorice, it could raise your blood sugar levels.
Sarsaparilla is an herb which balances the body's hormones. It a source of testosterone, progesterone and cortin, which stimulates the action of estrogen in women.
Ginseng is another herb which regulates both male and female hormones, plus it helps give you energy as well.
Blessed Thistle is another herb which helps balance the female hormones, as well as strengthening the heart and lungs, and improving circulation. This herb will make you sweat a lot however.
Combining two or more of these herbs will help immensely with the most common menopause symptoms, and if hot flashes are a major problem, be sure to add Black Cohosh as well.
