Herbal Remedies for Boosting the Immune System

Taking herbal remedies is an excellent, natural way to help boost and strengthen your immune system. Nutrition plays an important role in building and maintaining a healthy immune system, and herbal supplements are basically condensed versions of healthy fruits and vegetables that are high in essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients. In a way, herbal supplements could be considered super foods.

Alfalfa, kelp, and parsley are 3 herbs that are packed with essential minerals, vitamins, and nutrients, and all 3 would make an excellent daily nutritional supplement.

Alfalfa is high in iron, calcium, magnesium, sodium, and phosphorus, and trace elements. It also contains amino acids that are essential for a healthy immune system. Alfalfa has the highest chlorophyll concentration of any plant, and is an excellent source of vitamin K and carotene.

Kelp is rich in iron, and is also a source of natural iodine. Natural iodine helps to regulate the thyroid gland, which in turn, helps your body to fight off bacteria, viruses and germs. Kelp is also high in magnesium, potassium, calcium and other trace minerals, and is considered to be an excellent source of several B vitamins.

Parsley is rich in vitamins A, B, and C. It actually contains 3 times the amount of vitamin C as citrus, and has more iron than all other green vegetables. Parsley is also high in potassium.

Dandelion is yet another herb with high concentrations of vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium. Taking vitamin C supplements that are non-herbal for an extended period can deplete your body's calcium levels, so an additional source of calcium may be required.

Taking herbal supplements for vitamin C may be the best choice, because they also contain several other essential minerals and vitamins.

Apart from Alfalfa, kelp, and parsley, Astragalus (huang qi) playing an important role in boosting immune system. It fortifies the lungs, and indirectly protects against external pathogenic factors.
