Making Your Own Herbal Remedies: Part 2
If you don't want to grow your own herbs, or you can't wait for them to grow large enough to make remedies with, you can order dried herbs in bulk online. Some larger cities also have local stores where you can buy dried herbs as well.
When you buy dried herbs, be sure to buy empty gelcaps as well, so you can make easy to take capsule mixtures for your custom remedies.
If you wanted to make a powerhouse infection remedy of your own, for instance, you might buy dried and ground Goldenseal, Echinacea, Garlic and Cayenne. Then mix equal parts of Goldenseal and Echinacea together and fill the gelcaps, or mix the Garlic and Cayenne together and fill the gelcaps.
You could add all four of the ingredients together if you wanted to as well, and fill gelcaps with that mixture too. Just take equal parts of each herb – unless you want a different combination strength for specific reasons – then fill your empty gelcaps with your mixture.
An easy way to make herbal infection fighting remedies is to simply buy some fresh Cayenne and Garlic, and a dehydrator. Chop the herbs up and put them in to dry for awhile, then crush them up into finer grind, or use a blender to chop them up into smaller pieces, then load them into your gelcaps.
Making salves is done in very much the same way. You can buy the ready packed gelcaps and open them up to shake out the powdered herb, or you can buy dried and ground herbs in bulk. Mix your desired herbs with either petroleum jelly, pure aloe vera juice, or mineral water, then store them in a tightly sealed container.
