Natural Remedies for Headaches

A lot of individuals have turned to natural herbal remedies to help alleviate their headache pain. One of the most effective herbal remedies for headaches is feverfew, also known as bachelor’s button.

Feverfew is a member of the daisy family, and has been taken for generations for headache pain relief, without the negative side effects of many prescription medications. Unlike prescription medications, feverfew supplements work best for pain relief when taken on a daily basis, instead of waiting until a headache occurs.

While there has been plenty of anecdotal evidence about the use of feverfew as a natural headache remedy, there have also been clinical trials that support this evidence. In one such study, more than two-thirds of the people who used feverfew regularly experienced relief from headache pain.

White Willow is another herbal remedy that provides headache pain relief. White Willow is the natural source of "allicin", the active ingredient in aspirin. This herb can not only help to provide pain relief, but it also reduces inflammation of the blood vessels that are the source of the pain.

Peppermint and Cayenne are two more herbal remedies that have proven to be effective for alleviating headache pain.
