Herbal remedies do NOT cure horses with discomfort, diet, or training issues.
Cut all the sugar out of his diet. No grain at all or only really high fat grain ( 12-20% fat range) in small amounts.
Have teeth done. Dental pain can cause bucking and acting up.
To rule things out, I'd try a different saddle on him and a different rider. He may be (1) trying to scare a timid rider with the bucking (2) in pain from the saddle at a cantering speed (especially spine clearance) (3) being ridden so rougly or in a confusing way; he can't go forward and can't slow down so his only way to go is UP
It could be a training issue. I know of a little pony who learned if she bucked or reared, the rider would always get off of her. Send a horse like that to a confident, consistent trainer with a good riding style.
Good luck!

Steven asks…
Herbal remedies………?
I am curious – how many people here who use herbal remedies actually grow & harvest (or wildcraft) and prepare their remedies themselves, as opposed to just purchasing them?
Do you notice any difference in the quality or effectiveness of personally prepared products?

admin answers:
I for one use herbal remedies for some ailments. I have a herbal garden around the house. For fresh cuts i pound about a handful of kamunggay leaves and place it over the cut. For mild coughs, diarrhea there are a lot of herbs to concoct.
The effectiveness is really not that far different except in extreme cases where the purchased products are conveniently ready to use.

Ken asks…
Are there any herbal remedies that work for bipolar disorder?
I know that there are some that are recommended for depression – St. John's Wort, for example – but do these remedies run the same risk as antidepressants for people with bipolar – that is, do they make them manic? (Please bear in mind that I have already had that reaction to an antidepressant, so I might be susceptible to it).
Are there any herbal remedies that are safe and recommended for people with bipolar disorder?

admin answers:
Yes, the most common ones are St. John's Wort, Valerian, and Chamomile, which is also used for folks sensitive to St. John's Wort.
Not herbal – but I've heard acupuncture works as well.
I haven't been able to find any information on herbal remedies causing manic episodes – but I wouldn't think so, since they don't work the same way as antidepressants. Just be mindful of drug interactions.
