David asks…

Should tree tea oil be used to treat bumps next tragus piercing?

I got my tragus pierced in July and in October i got a small bump, it hasn't gotten any bigger, and it doesn't hurt unless i hit my earring… I heard tea tree oil should work but that also it can cause a real scar is it worth trying..

I used Aspirin and water and it cleared right up without a scar. Be persistent though, I did it on and off which did absolutely nothing. It cleared up once I started applying it about twice a day.

Go out and buy some real tea tree oil. I don't know what kinds of brands of tea tree oil you are talking about, but whatever kind it is, make sure that it is real and 100% natural, and not like that fake and diluted stuff people buy from some drug stores. You're only criteria for buying tea tree oil should be that it's the 100% natural kind. A lot of the stuff at the drug stores that are supposedly real oils and things are fake and diluted. The bottle may say tea tree oil, but when you read the ingredients on it tea tree oil will be way down on the ingredient list and it will mostly be soybean oil or mineral oil mixed with different cheap oils and only contain the oil. These don't work as well as the real oils. It will also be loaded with fragrance. Some companies do this because it is cheaper and easier to produce more.

It doesn't really matter which brand you buy, just make sure that it's the 100% natural kind and the only ingredient listed should be tea tree oil. You should avoid buying from some common drug stores which sell the diluted kind and instead, buy from a health food store. They almost always sell the completely natural products. It doesn't matter much, it is mostly all the same as long as it's natural.

Can tea tree oil in the bath tub help clear up a yeast infection in a baby?

My daughter has a yeast infection and I've heard that a bit of tea tree oil in the bath tub can take care of it. What is the ratio of tea tree oil to water to clear it up? Is it possible to put too much? How long does she need to be in the water for this to be effective? I've also got her on a pro-biotic and bare bottomed. Any other suggestions?

It is amazing how little these responders know about tea tree oil. It does not mix with water so a drop in water is silly. It is so gentle that that it COULD be applied to the skin directly without carrier oil.If you mix the tea tree oil in carrier oil before you put it in the tub it will not glom it will spread around nicely. Also it is absorbed through the skin so direct application is not needed. So what to do? Mix 6 drops TT oil into a small amount of carrier oil like safflower or sunflower or grape seed or jojoba but NOT cooking oil like corn or canola. Put the mix in the tub of warm water and swish it around. Child could stay in the tub for maybe 10 minutes. Do not use a lot of TT oil because it has to be processed by the liver and it could overburden the liver and cause some problems. But 6 drops in a tub is fine. All oils can affect a person with seizure disorder. And last if you are pregnant don't swish the water with your hand as all oils can possibly cause a problem. Other than those 3 issues oils are really safe and TT along with Lavender are among the safest. Read up on TT oil at Camdengrey.com

What kind of tea tree oil should i buy to treat an ear infection?

I was just wondering what kind of tea tree oil should i buy to treat my newly pierced ear? I know there is tea tree oil shampoo but which one should i buy?

admin answers:

Well, I'm curious to know why you think it's a good idea to use tea tree oil on newly pierced ears…

You want non-diluted teatree oil, but… Caveat.

The only reason you would want to use it is if they are infected. TeaTree oil draws out infection and fluids from a piercing. It helps get rid of inflammation and swelling, but it is REALLY strong stuff. It can really irritate your piercing.

SO. Go see your piercer. If you went to a mall shop, go see a professional piercer at a studio, they'll help you.

Best of luck.
